Satoru Satonaka comes from a baseball-oriented family. He first showcased exceptional pitching talent at Kōyō Junior High School. Enrolling at Tōhō High School, he joined the baseball team as a pitcher, wielding a powerful fastball and developing a forkball as a key weapon. Known for a flamboyant and sometimes arrogant personality, Satonaka frequently clashed with teammates, particularly Taro Yamada, due to differing game approaches and personal rivalries; his overconfidence occasionally led to setbacks.

Despite his talent, Satonaka encountered challenges including poor performance, injuries, and the intense pressure of tournaments like the National High School Baseball Championship. These experiences fostered gradual personal growth, teaching him greater humility, teamwork, and resilience. He developed a deep respect for Yamada's abilities, transforming their rivalry into a mutually beneficial competitive relationship.

Following Tōhō High, Satonaka pursued professional baseball, being drafted into the leagues. His professional journey involved adapting to higher competition, refining his pitching repertoire, and facing former high school rivals, including significant matchups against the also-professional Taro Yamada. Satonaka played for multiple professional teams, experiencing trades, team dynamics, and the continuous effort to maintain performance. Later, as a veteran player, he transitioned into coaching roles, leveraging his extensive experience to guide younger players. His personality matured significantly, though traces of his characteristic confidence remained.

His arc spans development from a talented but immature junior high player, through formative and tumultuous high school years marked by rivalry and growth, into a long professional career facing new challenges and relationships, and ultimately into a post-playing career as a mentor within baseball.
