Description
Dr. Shinichirō Izumi (also known as Shinchiro Izumi) leads the Daimobic research base, assuming command after Dr. Isamu Ryūzaki's death during failed Earth-Baam-seijin peace talks. He is the grandfather of Nana Izumi and became adoptive guardian to Kazuya Ryūzaki following Kazuya's father Isamu's killing. Dr. Izumi personally instructed Kazuya in karate, directly shaping Kazuya's combat style as the pilot of the super robot Daimos, which mirrors its pilot's movements.

As head of Daimobic, Dr. Izumi oversees scientific research, defense planning, and Daimos maintenance. He coordinates personnel including Kazuya, Nana, Kyōshirō Yūzuki, and support staff such as the robot Cairo and Nana's nanny Okane. His duties encompass managing the base's transformation into a mobile command center during critical missions against Baam forces.

Dr. Izumi collaborates with scientists like Dr. Douglas Banks to improve Daimos, integrating Banks' secret formula to upgrade its energy systems and weaponry, including the "Daimos-Light" enhancement. He appealed to the United Nations to secure Kazuya's release after General Miwa unlawfully detained the pilot.

His ethics prioritize peace and coexistence, contrasting General Miwa's militarism and xenophobia. He consistently resists Miwa's attempts to seize Daimobic and Daimos, committed to using the robot solely for Earth's defense, not aggression against the Baam. This philosophy underpins his support for Kazuya and Erika's relationship as a potential bridge to peace. The Philippine English dub renamed him "Professor Yurgen," and the Starbirds dub used "Professor Wells."
