Description
Taken is a 16-year-old resident of the Blue Sky Orphanage, where he forms and plays on an American football team. Just before his sixteenth birthday, an old letter reveals that individuals claiming to be his family plan to retrieve him. This news causes him significant distress, spurs him to flee the orphanage. Amidst this turmoil, a colossal green crystal plummets from the sky and implants itself in his chest. This crystal, identified as the "Key Energy" device, integrates into his body and emits a blinding light that incapacitates his friends. He is then taken aboard a UFO by a man named Rabi. Rabi discloses Taken's true heritage as the prince of the planet Apolon, revealing that Taken's father, the king, was murdered by the Dazaan Army, who also stole the planet's Energy Heart. Rabi charges Taken with retrieving the stolen Energy Heart and protecting Earth using Apolon's advanced technology, including the robot Dai Apolon and its accompanying fighter jets. Returning to Earth, Taken and his friends commit to defending the planet against the Dazaan threat.
Taken wields special energy abilities that enable him to control UFO saucers from an oceanic base. The Key Energy device within him facilitates a solar-powered process called "body fusion," which vastly increases his physical mass, transforming him into a giant humanoid. In this form, he integrates with cybernetic armor components—Header (Head), Trangur (Trunk), and Legger (Leg)—which combine to form the mighty robot Dai Apolon. His friends Miki, Matsuo, and Goro pilot these component robots, enabling the combination sequence.
His character arc revolves around reconciling his dual identity as an Earth orphan and Apolon prince while leading the defense against the Dazaan Army. A significant quest involves his search for his mother, leading him to planet Dazaan. This journey culminates with his mother playing a pivotal role in restoring universal peace. Throughout the series, Taken evolves from a distraught teenager into a decisive leader, driven by the need to avenge his father's death, reclaim the Energy Heart, and protect his adoptive home planet. His relationships with his orphanage friends form his core support system, and their collective vow to defend Earth fuels their ongoing battles.
