TV-Series
Description
Starscream served as Predacon Air Commander under Galvatron during the Gaia conflict, fighting alongside his partner BB. Their mission centered on securing the volatile Angolmois Energy for the Predacon cause. Starscream frequently acted as Galvatron's de facto second-in-command, creating tension with the official deputy and Galvatron's younger brother, Megastorm.

He exhibited pronounced ambition, narcissism, and effeminacy. Believing himself intellectually superior to most Predacons, he held particular disdain for fellow Jet Warriors Dirge and Thrust, viewing them as simpletons. He prioritized maintaining his appearance and avoided direct combat to protect his paint job, relying on BB for physical confrontations. Despite his vanity, his clever strategies often involved manipulating both allies and enemies, such as tricking the Insectrons into attacking the Maximals by framing them and planting falsified data.

A key capability was his ability to combine with BB into the powerful aerial combatant, Formation Scream, significantly boosting their firepower and posing a major threat. His scheming extended to undermining rivals within the Predacons, especially Megastorm and the Autorollers. He manipulated situations to discredit or endanger them, like sabotaging the Autorollers' Angolmois pipeline to cause an explosion intended to eliminate them; this act inadvertently contributed to Galvatron's temporary transformation into a rampaging giant. He also monitored Megastorm's attempts to usurp Galvatron, retrieving Galvatron's injured body after Megastorm tried to dispose of him, keeping Megastorm uncertain of his true loyalties.

Following Megastorm's upgrade into Gigastorm, Starscream's ambitions led to a confrontation. After losing a battle against the Maximals, Starscream attempted to defect, pleading to join them against the Predacons. This enraged Gigastorm, who detonated nearby explosives despite their presence, causing Starscream and BB to fall into concentrated liquid Angolmois Energy. Exposure triggered a radical physical transformation, reformatting Starscream into Hellscream. He gained a new cybernetic beast mode resembling a Great White Shark and embraced this monstrous new form.

As Hellscream, he retained his ferocity and loyalty, fighting alongside the upgraded BB, now Max B. He participated in the final battles against the Maximals aboard Galvatron's artificial planet, the Nemesis. When Galvatron detonated the Nemesis during its destruction, the explosion sent Hellscream and the remaining Predacons adrift in space. After Unicron's defeat in the Beast Wars Neo conflict, the exiled Predacons, including Hellscream, were offered a chance to return to Cybertron to aid its restoration.

In a separate continuity (IDW Beast Wars comics), an earlier encounter showed Starscream meeting BB in a Maximal detention center, befriending the traumatized robot. Starscream facilitated BB's escape during a prison break, securing the larger robot's unwavering loyalty. Later, after his transformation, Hellscream served as one of Shokaract's heralds, spreading Angolmois Energy across Cybertron to incite chaos. He was defeated alongside the other heralds by Ravage and fled following Shokaract's disappearance.
