Description
Colada, also known as Cohrada or Corahda, is a Maximal from the Generation One continuity family. He possesses a quick temper, notable impatience, and a pronounced arrogant demeanor. Preferring solitary action to teamwork, he often views other team members as impediments rather than assets. A long-standing and intense rivalry exists with the Maximal Break, originating from their time together at the Maximal military academy, with Colada frequently attempting to outperform him.
His physical capabilities are considerable. His alternate beast mode is that of an organic cobra. In this form, he employs several combat gimmicks, including a segmented tail that serves as a whip and a soft-plastic bladder in his mouth that can suck up and expel water. In robot mode, the whip-tail becomes his right arm, and the water-squirting blaster mounts on his left wrist. He wields a vacuum shockwave weapon called the Hand Vute, capable of slicing through steel, and also possesses a flame breath ability, which he once used to thaw teammates from ice. He demonstrates mastery in desert climates, though his effectiveness diminishes in cold environments.
Colada was among several new Maximal recruits chosen to serve under Big Convoy. Their initial mission involved traveling to Gaia to investigate the disappearance of Lio Convoy and recover Angolmois capsules before Predacon forces could claim them. From the outset, he displayed a dismissive and antagonistic attitude toward other recruits, particularly teasing the sub-commander Longrack. In one incident, he held the rabbit Maximal Stampy in place during target practice, sparking a conflict.
His character developed during the mission. On the planet Donovan, forced to partner with his rival Break after a Predacon ambush, he eventually forged a mutual respect and accepted a hand of friendship, marking a shift from his strictly solitary approach. However, his tendencies toward impatience and arrogance persisted.
Beyond the primary narrative, his history expanded in other media. Following the declaration of the Pax Cybertronia, Colada left the official army to operate as an independent agent, having little patience for peacetime rules. He later joined a Maximal task force led by Big Convoy investigating illicit Angolmois trade on Cybertron. The group located the risen tower of Shokaract, and Colada speculated it was an ancient structure thrust to the surface by an unknown force before being attacked.
In a separate incident, he was time-displaced to the planet Energoa, where he encountered the Predacon Archadis. Their battle involved Colada dodging a Founder Shot and countering with an Arm Machine Gun.
The character has been represented in multiple toy releases. A Deluxe class figure from 1999 transformed into a cobra and featured the water-squirting gimmick, also available in a two-pack with the Predacon Saberback. In 2007, a extensively repainted version was released as part of the Beast Wars Telemocha Series, packaged with a DVD of a Beast Wars episode in which he did not appear.
