TV-Series
Description
Longrack is the deputy commander of Big Convoy's Maximal unit, transforming into a giraffe. Defined by strict adherence to rules and protocol, he frequently issues demerits to fellow Maximals, believing this benefits them long-term. This behavior renders him talkative, over-serious, and often perceived as annoying. Teammates like Colada, Break, and Mach Kick regularly mock or challenge his authority. Despite this friction, Big Convoy appointed him sub-commander; his rigidity provides the crew with a unified figure to oppose, inadvertently fostering team cohesion. Beyond duty, Longrack engages in tinkering and invention, revealing a creative side typically overshadowed by his protocol-driven demeanor.
During missions, Longrack demonstrates leadership despite interpersonal challenges. On Gaia, his first act as acting lieutenant during a Predacon ambush was instructing teammates to prioritize individual survival, which led to Stampy's capture. He later coordinated a group attack to rescue Stampy from Magmatron. On Godbless, he partnered with Colada for reconnaissance, maintaining composure despite constant teasing and identifying Saberback's Angolmois-fueled illusions. During the Solid mission, he complied with Big Convoy's training directive for a full-team deployment, though weather complications necessitated his assistance in creating an ice transport. On Maderan, he dismissed Stampy's caution about a trapped Angolmois capsule, leading to his and Break's electrocution and capture by Predacons; this experience prompted him to apologize to Stampy for underestimating his bravery. On Donovan, he enforced Big Convoy's orders for Break and Colada to scout together, later joining a team to retrieve an Angolmois capsule amid Predacon interference.
Longrack possesses combat abilities harnessing his beast mode traits. His "Arm Shot" attack extends his right arm—formed from his giraffe neck—to strike distant foes, while the "Crush Arm" employs a large claw to grab and crush enemies. He also wields integrated missile launchers. His technical expertise includes repairing starship systems, demonstrated when the Maximal vessel crashed on Godbless.
Beyond his primary continuity, Longrack appears in other continuities. In the IDW Beast Wars comics, he operates under Lio Convoy as part of the Pack, traveling to prehistoric Earth. There, he battled Predacons like Buzz Saw and assisted in rallying Maximal survivors. In Beast Wars: Uprising, he serves as the Maximal first officer aboard the *Dinosaur*, commanding Predacon enlisted personnel. His authority is frequently undermined by the ship's Micromaster political officer, Synapse, and the Builder captain's hologram, exacerbating his rigidity into frustration during missions like a failed rescue attempt on LGC-8803.
Longrack hails from a distinguished lineage of giraffe Convoys. After his tenure with Big Convoy, he pursued admission into the Convoy Council while working in personnel affairs and supply management.
