Barbottina, known internationally as Barbalib or Barbotine, is one of the seven children of Barbapapa and Barbamama, born as a septuplet. Her base form is a distinct orange blob with arms and no legs, featuring the family's pear-shaped body common to males while maintaining a slender feminine silhouette. She uniquely wears glasses among her siblings. Barbottina embodies intellectual curiosity, consistently depicted with books and dedicated to academic pursuits, activism, and environmental causes. Like all Barbapapas, she possesses the innate ability to shapeshift into any object or creature while retaining her orange color and facial features. Within the family, she often clashes with her brother Barbabravo (Barbidur) over leadership and intellectual recognition.

Her background and core traits remain consistent across all adaptations, starting with the original 1970 book series by Annette Tison and Talus Taylor, continuing through the 1974 animated series, the 1999 *Barbapapa Around the World* series (where an episode set in India uses her Italian name), and the 2019 *One Big Happy Family!* revival.
