TV-Series
Description
Poindexter is the nephew of the recurring antagonist the Professor, assisting him in schemes to steal Baby Felix's magic bag. His characterization as a highly intelligent child scientist persists from earlier Felix the Cat media. He possesses an exceptionally high IQ, cited as either 222 or 777, and demonstrates advanced scientific aptitude, especially in rocketry and invention. His experiments frequently result in self-inflicted explosions, leading the Professor to repeatedly ban him from the laboratory; these explosions often occur during attempts to develop a powerful rocket fuel formula targeted by villains like Master Cylinder.

His signature appearance features thick, round glasses often compared to Coke-bottle lenses, a lab coat, and a mortarboard cap. A distinctive button on his shirt possesses varying technological capabilities, such as temporarily disrupting machinery or activating force-field shields and other devices as needed by the plot.

Despite his antagonistic role under the Professor's direction in *Baby Felix*, his broader franchise history depicts him as fundamentally benign. He shares a genuine friendship with the adult Felix, typically addressing him respectfully as "Mr. Felix." This contrasts with his uncle's villainy, and he sometimes becomes a reluctant ally to Felix and the Professor against greater threats like Master Cylinder.

His background remains largely undefined; the status of his parents is unknown. The Professor acts as his guardian, exhibiting a protective though strict attitude that reveals a less villainous aspect of the Professor. Poindexter's childhood is unconventional, lacking typical experiences due to his genius intellect and the Professor's scientific environment. Their only child-appropriate book, *Mother Goose*, has been scientifically altered, further isolating him. His interactions with Felix occasionally provide moments of friendship and childlike normalcy.

Beyond *Baby Felix*, Poindexter appears in other official media. He features prominently in *Felix the Cat: The Movie*, accompanying Felix and the Professor to the dimension of Oriana to help overthrow the villain Duke of Zill and defeat Master Cylinder. He also appears in *The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat*, initially in a brief cameo in the Season 1 episode "News Blues," followed by more substantial roles in Season 2 episodes "Star Trash," "The Extraterrestrial Robot," "Battle of the Brains," and "The Golden Whatnot."

A notable legal distinction exists: Poindexter is the only major Felix the Cat character not owned by DreamWorks/Universal. Rights remain with Don Oriolo, managed by Surge Licensing since 2025. Consequently, he does not appear in certain newer franchise materials like the 2023 graphic novel and has a dedicated merchandise website under Poindexter, LLC.
