TV-Series
Description
Tamaki Reika, a wealthy student at Misora Elementary School, initially displays haughty and egotistical traits. Her family's affluence originates from her father, who began spoiling her excessively following two childhood accidents where she was hurt due to his inattention. This led to her self-serving and materialistic demeanor. She habitually flaunts her wealth and status to assert superiority over classmates, exhibiting attention-seeking behavior and a tendency to sabotage or threaten others non-physically when challenged. Despite academic excellence and student council involvement, her narcissism and short temper frequently trigger petty conflicts, particularly with Doremi Harukaze and her friends, whom she initially antagonizes.

Her personality reveals an inferiority-superiority complex; arrogance masks deep-seated loneliness and insecurity about familial love. She doubts her father's affection, interpreting his lack of discipline as indifference, fueling emotional vulnerability. This insecurity drives her desire for genuine friendships, though she struggles socially due to a lack of self-awareness. Her only consistent companion is the loyally compliant Kaori Shimakura.

Character development unfolds across the series, notably through interactions with Momoko Asuka. After a rocky start, Momoko recognizes Reika's isolation and offers friendship, forging a meaningful bond. This relationship catalyzes Reika's gradual softening, as she begins showing empathy and kindness while retaining her stern demeanor. She warms to other students, including the Light Robot twins Astro, Rock, and Roll, eventually forming friendships with them and the Ojamajo group. Her respect for Hazuki Fujiwara grows due to Hazuki's academic prowess, highlighting Reika's valuation of intelligence.

Key storylines include her failed bid for class representative in Season 1, where her pride provokes opponent Masaharu Miyamoto into continuing his campaign, resulting in her landslide loss. Another incident involves her purchasing an expensive brassiere from France to flaunt at school, leading to disciplinary action from teacher Miss Seki. These events exemplify her "break the haughty" arcs where consequences challenge her worldview.

In later media like the light novel *Ojamajo Doremi 16*, Reika attends Karen Girls' Academy with Hazuki, indicating continued academic ambition. She secretly dates a former delinquent, aware of her family's disapproval, showcasing growing independence. The novel depicts her supporting Hazuki through a scandal while grappling with concerns about her boyfriend's activities, reflecting her capacity for loyalty and emotional complexity.

Reika's familial connections include a younger cousin, Erika Tamaki, whom she mentors as a cool older sister figure. Her interests include tennis, though she lacks proficiency, and her image song "Super Ojou-sama!" reinforces her affluent persona.

The 2020 film *Looking for Magical Doremi* features a different character named Reika Kawatani, sharing no direct relation to Tamaki Reika beyond the given name.
