Description
Hiroshi Tateno transfers into Doumori Elementary as a proud and skeptical student, initially dismissing his teacher Meisuke Nueno's claims about the supernatural. His perspective shifts dramatically after Nube exorcises a yokai possessing his feet, transforming him into one of Nube's most ardent supporters. Hiroshi exhibits courage and protectiveness, confronting threats to his classmates regardless of origin, despite consistently poor academic performance marked by failing grades.

His defining passion is soccer, fueling his dream of becoming a professional player. This dream materializes into global recognition as a popular football player competing in international tournaments like the World Cup. His career faces a severe challenge when he sustains a major leg injury during a match. Fearing it would worry Kyoko Inaba and threaten his career, Hiroshi initially keeps this injury secret.

Hiroshi's relationship with Kyoko evolves from childhood friendship to a committed romance. They share a promise of mutual love during school, which Hiroshi reaffirms years later. Their relationship encounters conflict when Kyoko, influenced by a yokai's manipulation, misinterprets Hiroshi's professional association with his manager Artelina as infidelity. After resolving this conflict and revealing his injury, Hiroshi undergoes risky surgery. Following his recovery, he proposes to Kyoko with a wedding ring before leaving for Italy. Their story concludes with marriage and relocation to Italy.

Years later, Hiroshi visits Doumori Elementary, encountering Nube's new students, including Kento Kita. Kento's jealousy over Hiroshi's popularity and past with Kyoko leads to a confrontation where Kento is endangered by a yokai. Hiroshi intervenes, combining his soccer skills with spiritual techniques like the Sutra of the White-Robed Goddess to defeat the threat. He mentors Kento afterward, advising against premature self-doubt and emphasizing each student's uniqueness under Nube's guidance.

Hiroshi appears briefly during a time-travel event in the sequel series. His legacy endures as a symbol of growth from a skeptical student to a globally recognized athlete who maintains deep ties to his origins and classmates.
