Description
Meisuke Nueno, known as Nube, was born to an exorcist father and a mother who fell critically ill. When the community refused aid despite his father's past generosity, she died. This abandonment caused his father's disillusionment and departure, leaving young Meisuke alone. Bullied due to uncontrollable spiritual powers, he was saved by his teacher, Minako-sensei, who sacrificed her life to exorcise a powerful snake demon possessing him. This forged his dual resolve to become both a teacher and a protector of children.

After obtaining his teaching license, Nube encountered a demon possessing a student during his first assignment. He sealed the demon, Bakki, into his left hand—a fusion of Bakki and Minako-sensei's soul—resulting in a grotesque, clawed appendage concealed under a black glove. This "Demon Hand" (Oni no Te) became his primary weapon against supernatural threats, though its uncontrolled use risked consuming his body and mind.

Assigned to Doumori Elementary's Class 5-3, Nube appeared outwardly as an unremarkable, financially struggling teacher prone to gambling and comedic mishaps. His true nature emerged when protecting students from spirits and yōkai, revealing self-sacrificing dedication. His personality balanced lightheartedness—pursuing romantic interests like colleague Ritsuko Takahashi—with intense seriousness during crises. A darker facet surfaced when tested by the Golden Nine-Tailed Kitsune; an illusion of his students rejecting him provoked jealous rage, exposing a capacity for violence he typically suppresses.

Key relationships defined his journey. His students, particularly Hiroshi Tateno and Kyōko Inaba, whom he shielded from supernatural dangers, viewed him as a guardian. Ritsuko evolved from distrust to admiration, though their bond was complicated by Yukime, a Yuki-onna he saved years earlier. Yukime's persistent affection culminated in marriage, with the pair later relocating to Kyushu. Other allies included the redeemed fox spirit Kyōsuke Tamamo and the oni siblings Bakki and Minki, the latter developing familial loyalty despite initial antagonism.

Beyond the Demon Hand, Nube employed diverse spiritual tools. The Sutra of the White-Robed Goddess sealed minor spirits, while a crystal ball revealed invisible entities. Techniques like "youshin jutsu" allowed astral projection, and prayer beads facilitated attacks. His combat style blended direct confrontation with negotiation or appeasement, prioritizing non-lethal resolutions when possible.

Twelve years after the original events, Nube returned to Doumori Elementary in "Neo" to confront renewed yōkai threats. In the "Reibaishi Izuna" timeline, he initially perished shielding children from Byakko but survived after timeline alterations. Post-crisis, he and Yukime faced misunderstandings involving Izuna Hazuki and Tamamo, prompting their retreat to Kyushu.

Later developments confirmed his settled life with Yukime, though occasional exorcism requests drew him back to Tokyo. These trips often sparked comedic conflicts, particularly Yukime's jealousy, but reinforced their enduring partnership.
