Description
Appearing exclusively in the 2007 anime movie *GeGeGe no Kitarō: Nippon Bakuretsu!!*, Hana Kazamatsuri (also romanized as Hana Fuusai) is a human girl. She triggers the story's events by writing a letter to Kitarō, pleading for protection from the yōkai Kagami-Jijii who hunts her. Before Kitarō can help, Kagami-Jijii captures her. Her plight directly draws Kitarō into the film's central conflict, establishing her vulnerability to supernatural threats as a human needing intervention.

Hana Kazamatsuri functions as an homage to Yumeko Tendō from earlier *GeGeGe no Kitarō* lore. Her first name "Hana" originates from Yumeko's grandmother, the object of Kagami-Jijii's affection in that past narrative. This connection clarifies Kagami-Jijii's presence in the movie and his specific fixation on Hana. Her name carries symbolism: "Hana" (華) means "flower," while "Kazamatsuri" (風祭) signifies "wind" (風) and "festival," "ritual," or "worship" (祭).
