Description
Rin Asougi is an immortal being whose existence spans over a millennium. Her immortality began in the 11th century after dying in a bandit attack; she inexplicably revived when a Time Fruit entered her body. This granted her agelessness, immunity to illness, and the ability to regenerate from any physical damage, including complete bodily destruction. Regeneration accelerates near the mythical tree Yggdrasil. Tajimamori, then-guardian of Yggdrasil, witnessed her first resurrection, though Rin remained unaware of his identity during their later phone communications across centuries.

Physically, Rin possesses distinctive dark green wavy hair, emerald green eyes, and fair skin. She maintains a youthful appearance resembling a woman in her mid-twenties. Her typical attire includes tailored suits, often dark green, and glasses correcting vision impairments uncorrectable by her immortality.

Professionally, Rin operates Asogi Consulting, a private investigation agency in Tokyo's Shinjuku district. She runs it alongside her immortal assistant Mimi, whom Rin rescued centuries earlier from an angel. The agency handles diverse cases, from locating lost pets to complex supernatural investigations. Rin employs exceptional deductive reasoning, eidetic memory, and cold-reading skills to detect deception and assess character. Her combat prowess includes mastery of edged weapons like daggers and garrote wires, firearms such as a punch booster, and martial arts, augmented by enhanced speed, strength, and reflexes.

Her personality blends humor, flippancy, and flirtatiousness with pragmatic ruthlessness. She values justice and compassion, often intervening to protect others, yet executes lethal force without remorse when necessary. Her personal relationships reflect duality: she shares a deep platonic bond with Mimi, a history of romance with Tokyo detective Yanagihara, and a connection with Kouki Maeno—a clone she aided in 1990 who later joined her agency. Tragically, most romantic partners, including Yanagihara and the mortal Ihika, meet untimely ends.

Key events define her millennium-long journey. In 1990, her encounter with Kouki unraveled a conspiracy involving artificial immortality, leading to his employment. By 2011, Kouki sacrificed himself as an angel to save Rin from the immortal scientist Sayara Yamanobe. Decades later, Rin safeguards Kouki's son Teruki and granddaughter Mishio. A pivotal incident in 2025 saw her body obliterated by a jet engine; regenerating over 25 years, she resurfaced as "Tamaki Saito" with amnesia, forming a relationship with Ihika before an assassination attempt by Laura restored her memories.

Her arc culminates in 2055 when the angel Apos—antagonist and persecutor of immortals—extracts her Time Fruit, causing her death. Proximity to Yggdrasil facilitated her revival, during which she confronted and defeated Apos. Rin subsequently bore Tajimamori's son, destined to succeed as Yggdrasil's guardian, and relocated to Apos' castle with Mimi and Mishio, concluding her search for purpose.
