Yui Tabata, a wealthy junior high student in Takuma Hirose's class, displays a self-aggrandizing personality and is constantly flanked by two male henchmen. Her appearance features long wavy red hair usually styled in pigtails, red eyes, a slim build, and a height of 140 cm. She adopts formal speech to set herself apart from those she calls "commoners," reflecting an aristocratic demeanor and condescending attitude.
Her family's affluence grants her significant village influence, yet she participates in regular farm work, contributing to notable physical strength. Despite her arrogance, she isn't inherently unkind and maintains friendly ties with classmates like Takuma, often teasing Hinata Kagura. However, she intensely hates Hayami Kohinata, relentlessly bullying her by directing her henchmen to harass Hayami while derisively labeling her a "cockroach." Yui typically observes rather than participates directly in physical confrontations.
This animosity stems from a traumatic family event: Yui's grandfather died due to poverty after Hayami's parents, then village doctors, refused to examine him without payment. This triggered a village revolt against the Kohinata family, resulting in their expulsion. Blaming Hayami for her grandfather's death, Yui perpetuates the hostility.
Her character develops as she confronts her grief and recognizes Hayami's inability to alter the past. This realization leads Yui to relinquish her hatred, demonstrating newfound patience and acceptance toward Hayami. A pivotal moment occurs when she intervenes to save Hayami from a murder attempt by one of her own henchmen.
In the sequel visual novel *√After and Another*, Yui receives a dedicated narrative route exploring her redemption arc. This storyline addresses the moral complexity of forgiving her past actions, requiring both Hayami and players to reconcile with her history of bullying. Segments of her route are presented from her older brother's perspective, incorporating an intertwining romantic subplot.
