Description
Noboru Takagami, the sixteen-year-old eldest son of the Takagami family, faces a sudden revelation: his grandmother and uncle inform him he is the head of the Mizuchi lineage, a family historically linked to spiritual practices and protection against supernatural threats. This unexpected authority falls to him despite his own lack of personal spiritual power.

He lives with his younger brother Tōru, his father Haruki, and the guardians Kūgen Tenko and Kō. Noboru shoulders significant household management duties, especially finances and cooking, due to his father's relaxed domestic attitude. This role grows more demanding with Kō, whose earnest but clumsy efforts to assist frequently lead to broken items and extra costs. Noboru persists in giving her tasks, displaying consistent patience.

A student at Akagi High School, Noboru participates in the badminton club alongside classmate Misaki Sakura. He remains largely unaware of Misaki's romantic feelings, often missing her hints and the teasing from friends Sugino, Ootsuka, and Teraoka. This obliviousness to romantic cues contrasts with his otherwise perceptive nature.

Confronted by spiritual threats, Noboru relies on his calm demeanor and strong communication skills. He develops a knack for recognizing human-transformed beings and frequently resolves conflicts through dialogue. However, when Tōru's safety is at stake, Noboru acts decisively and independently, taking risks without hesitation to protect his brother.

His bond with Tōru is central. Noboru offers steady comfort, such as reassuring Kō about her perceived inadequacies and explaining Tōru's unease regarding their deceased mother. His protective instinct for Tōru directly sets the series in motion; he initially releases Kūgen Tenko from an ancient seal to shield his brother from a demonic attack.

Noboru's development involves adapting to his role as Mizuchi head while balancing school life, demanding household responsibilities, and supernatural challenges. His pragmatic approach and protective instincts remain defining traits.
