Description
Tokageroh (also known as Tokagero or Tokagerou) is a 600-year-old spirit and guardian ghost of Ryunosuke Umemiya. Born into extreme poverty on November 14, 1374, he survived by consuming his deceased mother's remains, an act that deeply influenced his path. Driven by this trauma, he became a notorious bandit leader whose group terrorized regions centuries ago. His mother gave him a name reflecting her hope he would endure hardship. During his life, he developed the agile, adaptable Tokage Kenpō (Lizard Sword Style) suited for banditry.
His life ended during an ambush on the samurai Amidamaru at his hill hideout, where Amidamaru killed him and his bandits. Consumed by vengeance against Amidamaru, Tokageroh's spirit remained earthbound, his hatred gradually turning his skin a distinct lizard green. Centuries later, he possessed Ryunosuke Umemiya to steal the Harusame sword and kidnap Manta Oyamada, aiming to lure Amidamaru, who did not remember him. Amidamaru shattered Harusame to save Ryu. Yoh Asakura then offered his body to Tokageroh, believing the spirit wasn't truly evil. Though intending to kill Yoh during possession, Tokageroh found himself unable to, revealing an inner softness and longing for maternal comfort beneath his proclaimed villainy. After peacefully leaving Yoh, he attempted to move on but stayed earthbound. He later encountered Ryu again in Izumo and chose to become his permanent guardian ghost.
As Ryu's spirit ally, Tokageroh's abilities evolved. His initial Over Soul manifested as energy coating Ryu's wooden sword, featuring Tokageroh's head near the base, executing attacks like "Hell Dragon Scarlet Lizard." Training in Izumo allowed him to embody the mythical river god Yamata no Orochi, gaining a monstrous, multi-headed form for spear-like thrusts. Further refinement under Anna Kyoyama during the Shaman Fight elevated him to Seirei-class. This enabled the "O.S. Yamata no Orochi Go," a colossal eight-headed serpentine Over Soul mounted on a three-wheeled motorcycle capable of crushing opponents with its "Super Attack." Tokageroh later powered the "O.S. Sashimi Knife of Susanoro," an armor-type Over Soul incorporating Ryu's bokutō, featuring shoulder armor and the "Ultra Sabaki" rapid multi-directional slash technique inspired by Ryu's sushi chef dream. He also manifested the "Big Thumb Over Soul," a giant green thumb used for hitchhiking or grasping.
Tokageroh has blood type AB, died at age 35, and possesses a reiyoku level of 5,000. His connection to the Yamata no Orochi legend and the deity Susanowo (via the "Sashimi Knife of Susanoro" name) is noted, though he is not a second spirit alongside Yamata no Orochi.
