Description
Fye, first known as Fai D. Fluorite (or Fai D. Flowright), is a central figure with a complex background. Born Yuui in Valeria Country, he and his identical twin brother Fai were deemed a cursed omen after their birth caused their father's death and mother's suicide. Their combined magic exceeding the king's led to imprisonment in a timeless, magic-nullifying tower – Fai confined at the top, Yuui at the bottom. They witnessed Valeria's population perish and the king's suicide before them. Offered freedom to one twin by Fei Wong Reed, Fai sacrificed himself for Yuui. Fei Wong then altered Yuui's memories, making him believe he chose his own survival over Fai's. This false guilt bound Yuui to Fei Wong as a pawn, burdened with two curses: one forcing him to kill stronger magicians, another causing worlds to collapse around him.

Rescued by King Ashura of Celes Country, Yuui adopted his brother's name Fai, received the surname "Fluorite," and the title "D" signifying Celes' highest magician. Ashura suppressed Fai's growing magic with a phoenix tattoo, forbidding its use without it. Fai later discovered Ashura was the murderous entity his first curse destined him to kill. Unable to fulfill this, he sealed Ashura in slumber and fled across dimensions.

During his travels, Fai maintained a cheerful, carefree facade, often teasing companions like Kurogane. This mask hid deep emotional detachment and self-worth struggles, though he gradually grew protective of Syaoran and Sakura, breaking his vow against magic to save them. Past trauma and curses fueled his reluctance to form bonds, a barrier Kurogane persistently challenged.

In the Tokyo Revelations arc, Fai's vulnerabilities deepened. He used magic to restrain the rogue Clone Syaoran, resulting in the clone consuming his left eye – the source of half his magical power. Severely injured and dying, Fai was turned into a vampire using Kamui's blood, requiring regular consumption of Kurogane's blood for survival. This transformation triggered a stark personality shift: he became cold and withdrawn, addressing Kurogane formally to sever emotional ties, fearing attachment due to his cursed existence.

Following these events, Fai relinquished his remaining magic to Yūko Ichihara to restore Kurogane's severed arm. After Fei Wong Reed's defeat, Fai regained his consumed eye and gradually reverted to his earlier, lighter demeanor, including playful interactions with Kurogane, signaling emotional healing and acceptance among his companions.
