Description
Born Saigan Sachi in Tokyo, Japan, on December 31, 1963, Sati Saigan grew up believing herself to be the Buddhist messiah Miroku, a falsehood instilled by Fra YVS to create a false messiah. At age ten, encountering a wooden Senju Kannon statue at a temple, she instinctively channeled Dainichi Nyorai into it as her first Over Soul to repel threatening land speculators, marking her shamanic journey's start.
Traveling to India, she reached Delhi in 1976. During this journey, she unconsciously manifested an army of bodhisattva spirits as sustained Over Souls for years, significantly increasing her furyoku. In Delhi, Maharaja Kado offered her food and lodging in exchange for marriage. Discovering Kado hosted her merely to mask his grief over losing his family with an extravagant party, Sati confronted him. Kado attacked with his "Ganesha Nature" Over Soul, but her bodhisattva spirits defended her and defeated him.
Her travels involved saving many people, some becoming devoted followers who joined Gandhara, the group she later led. She established a school, orphanage, and hospital in India. Among her students, she recognized Komeri's shamanic potential and trained her as Gandhara's future leader. Gandhara, one of the Shaman Fight's three great powers, participated in every tournament for over 2,000 years to prevent Hao Asakura becoming Shaman King.
Leading Team "Nyorai" during the Shaman Fight, Sati intervened to save the mortally wounded Umemiya Ryunosuke from Peyote Diaz, reviving him due to Asakura Yoh's prayer. Later, at Ryu's request, she revived Chocolove McDonnell and members of Shaft, also removing Chocolove's eyesight per his wish. Team "Nyorai" easily defeated Team "Haiti 800," dissolving their Zombie Soldiers.
Sati orchestrated a plan to stop Hao by selecting Yoh, Ren, Horohoro, Lyserg, and Chocolove as the Five Elemental Warriors. She challenged and killed Yoh, sending his soul directly to Sanjiva Hell for training to control the Spirit of Earth. Her plan involved stealing the Five Grand Elemental Spirits for the warriors to ambush Hao. Hang Zang-Ching stabbed and killed her during a confrontation, but Johann Faust VIII revived her. She then revived Jeanne and later Lyserg, facilitating their tournament withdrawal.
While the warriors fought the Patch Tribe, Sati confronted Enma Daioh in Hell to retrieve the Spirit of Earth, but was refused due to the Patch Tribe's contract. After the warriors secured all elemental spirits, Gandhara boarded the Sphinx to deliver them. Hao destroyed the vessel upon awakening as Shaman King. Sati and Gandhara later boarded the train of souls in the Great Spirit, reuniting Hao with his mother's spirit, convincing him to postpone his plan to eradicate humanity.
After the Shaman Fight, Sati disbanded Gandhara and settled in India with her Buddha spirits and Komeri. She trained Tamamura Tamao alongside Yohken, enhancing Tamao's shamanic abilities. She led an attack against Kado after he left Gandhara but was overpowered by Shiva Sahasranama. Nakaizumi Yakumo sought to become her disciple; she initially refused due to her lost faith in the middle path but relented after recounting Gandhara's founding story.
In August 2014, during the Flower of Maize events, Sati visited Funbari Onsen to revive Asakura Hana's body, enabling him to recruit Sakurai Sakutaro. She invited Tamao to join a new team, but Tamao declined due to loyalty to the Asakura family. Sati then traveled to Kyoto Tower to join Team YVS, reuniting Dainichi with Lucifer and apologizing to Kamogawa Yohsuke for past actions.
