Description
Ren Uesugi endured a traumatic childhood defined by domestic abuse from his alcoholic father after his mother's death during childbirth. Despite Ren's attempts to earn approval, physical violence remained routine; his father threw coins at him to fund alcohol purchases. His half-sister Mihato provided sole emotional refuge, with Ren affectionately dubbing her "Hato-nee." They fled their home to escape the abuse, facing financial hardship until encountering Kuonji Miyu, who collapsed from heatstroke. After aiding her, the siblings were welcomed to the Kuonji mansion as servants.
At the estate, Ren trained as a butler under Colonel's strict mentorship. His stubborn refusal to admit defeat initially sparked friction with staff, particularly head maid Venis—whom he nicknamed "Benikō" to stifle laughter at her name. His impulsive demeanor drew teasing attention from Shinra Kuonji, the eldest sister. Ren upheld professionalism despite Shinra's advances and intimate situations with Miyu, such as bathing her or sharing her bed. His role expanded when temporarily serving Ageha Kuki, Yume's classmate, who developed feelings after witnessing his diligence.
Ren forged key bonds in the household. His rapport with Venis shifted when he shielded her during a kidnapping, earning her respect after earlier clashes. He cultivated a brother-sister dynamic with security head Natose through shared veranda talks and was called "Ren-nii" by fellow servant Chiharu Kiyohara. The mansion's familial environment offered stability, allowing Ren to recall rare positive memories of his father, like playing baseball, while rebuilding his life. His presence impacted others positively, warming residents like Miyu's robot De Niro after initial disputes.
Ren's resilience stems from his past. He harbors an older sister complex toward Mihato, growing uneasy when apart. His honest, hardworking nature attracts romantic interest, notably from Shinra, toward whom he seems to develop feelings while maintaining butler decorum. By the narrative's close, he remains uncommitted as a personal butler to any sister, fueling ongoing rivalry among Shinra, Miyu, Yume, and Ageha for the position.
Physically, Ren has black hair, brown eyes, and stands 175 cm tall. His birthday falls on November 11.
