Description
Toshiaki Hanjou, nicknamed Pon, emerged from Ebizuka Middle School as a founding member of the formidable Ebizuka Trio alongside Hiromi Kirishima and Makoto Sugihara. Renowned as Ebizuka’s strongest group, the trio maintained their dominance without recruiting followers. A middle-school bike accident cost Pon his front teeth, prompting him to adopt a face mask to hide the injury—a signature look he eventually abandoned in pursuit of romance, signaling evolving priorities.
Inspired by a clash with Suzuran All-Boys High student Genjirou Katsuragi, the trio transferred to Suzuran, swiftly conquering their freshman class until challenged by unbeatable foes like Rindaman. During sophomore year, tension flared when Bouya Harumichi assaulted Hiromi. A coin toss spared Pon from confronting Bouya, paving the way for an alliance. Together, Pon, Hiromi, Mako, and Bouya clashed with rivals such as Hideto Bandou.
Pon later co-founded the Harumichi Family to oppose T.F.O.A., surviving ambushes by Anzai Mitsuhiko’s gang. In the Housen conflict, Kikuchi Toshinao’s steel pipe strike temporarily sidelined him, but he regrouped to aid Bouya against the Bitou brothers and Housen forces. As a senior, he confronted Iwashiro Gunji, an Ebizuka junior who idolized the Trio yet accused them of growing complacent under Bouya’s sway. Pon’s victory over Gunji solidified his reputation.
Post-graduation, he became a mechanic, managing a garage while navigating humorous friction with coworker Fujishiro Takumi, whom he accused of sabotaging his romantic prospects. Years later, *Crows Explode* noted Pon and Mako’s shared tenth rank in Suzuran Combat’s legacy standings.
His combat legacy includes triumphs over Odajima and Gunji, defeats by Rindaman, Ryuushin, and Kikuchi, and collective victories against Anzai’s faction—all underscoring his brute-force approach and unyielding loyalty within Suzuran’s turbulent hierarchy.
