Spectra Phantom, originally Keith Fermin, is a Vestal and the masked leader of the Vexos in *Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia*. The son of Professor Clay Fermin and older brother of Mira Fermin, his primary Bakugan partner is the Pyrus Helios, later evolving into Darkus Infinity Helios in *Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge*. Keith trained Mira in Bakugan battles and shared a close family bond during his early life. Witnessing his father's unethical experiments on Bakugan, particularly Hydranoid, shifted his perspective, driving him to pursue ultimate power. He forged the alias "Spectra Phantom," dyeing his pink hair blond and donning a signature red mask equipped with a voice modulator and tactical computer. His Vexos attire featured a red feathered coat, gold-fastened garments, and a mask revealing only his right eye. As Spectra Phantom, he displayed ruthless ambition, employing forbidden ability cards and manipulating allies like Gus Grav. He captured Bakugan for the Vexos, defeating Baron and imprisoning Tigrerra. His tactics included threatening Dan Kuso with Runo Misaki's safety to force cooperation. Despite his villainy, Spectra maintained loyalty to Mira, freeing Resistance members Shun Kazami, Ace Grit, and Marucho Marukura at her request. His goals evolved into harvesting the Perfect Core energy from Drago to create the "Ultimate Bakugan." He upgraded Helios into a cybernetic form and later into Maxus Helios using Bakugan stolen from Prince Hydron. After the Vexos betrayed him and labeled him a traitor, Spectra and Gus became fugitives. They forcibly evolved discarded Bakugan with Chaos Ability X, risking the loss of the Bakugan's sentience. A pivotal defeat by Dan Kuso spurred Spectra's redemption. He abandoned his alias, rejoined the Resistance as Keith Fermin, and aided the evacuation of New Vestroia during King Zenoheld's Bakugan Termination System crisis. He later helped destroy Zenoheld's Alternative Weapon System, reconciling with Mira and forming a brotherly rapport with Dan. In *Mechtanium Surge*, Keith embraced the Darkus attribute to evolve Helios into Darkus Infinity Helios. He assisted the Battle Brawlers against Mag Mel's Chaos Army, deploying Bakugan like Bombaplode and the Mechtogan Slynix. During the final conflict, Helios fused with Titanium Dragonoid and later with Taylean to defeat Razen Titan. Following Mag Mel's defeat, Keith and Gus returned to Vestal but remained available allies.
