Description
Touka Kamiazuma is the central protagonist from the Kamiazuma clan, protectors of the mystical land of Kamitsumihara. Created as a non-human replacement for Yumiko Kamiazuma's deceased biological daughter of the same name, who perished unable to contain the sacred Stone Sword's power, he exists under tragic circumstances. Crafted specifically to wield this ancient weapon, the Stone Sword is physically integrated within his body, serving as both a burden and a defining aspect. This integration halts his physical growth and contributes to his detached perspective.

Some characters speculate he may be the reincarnation of Isamihiko, the Stone Sword's previous wielder, though his foundational truth remains his artificial origin for a singular purpose. His physical presentation varies: adopting long hair and a traditional red kimono when fulfilling the role of Yumiko's "daughter," he otherwise appears with short hair and modern attire like black shirts, trousers, or school uniforms. Regardless of appearance, he maintains a consistently reserved personality, exhibiting bluntness and emotional distance toward most.

His capacity for deep connection manifests solely toward his adoptive mother, Yumiko, and Momoka Kawakabe, a girl embodying the goddess Sei who enters his life unexpectedly. Momoka's arrival catalyzes pivotal events tied to an ancient legend. Despite developing genuine affection for her, Touka remains steadfastly committed to breaking the centuries-old curse plaguing Kamitsumihara, accepting this goal may demand significant personal sacrifices. This resolve places his relationship with Momoka at the heart of unfolding destiny, as she willingly cooperates despite knowing her existence as a goddess may end alongside her sisters.

The Stone Sword within him resonates with external forces, reacting notably to the Great Dragon's power channeled through Makoto Inukai's flute playing. His narrative unfolds across reverse chronological storytelling in the anime adaptation, gradually revealing his motivations and relationships through fragmented events viewed backwards. This structure emphasizes the predetermined nature of his journey toward confronting the ancient tragedy, where his synthetic origin and sacred burden converge with his connections to Yumiko and Momoka to shape his role as both protector and catalyst for change.
