Description
Executioner Master, designated No. 658 within the Kansai Police Execution Division, is a veteran enforcer tasked with eliminating high-level criminals called Akudama. He received a significant wound on his left cheek during an early-career battle against a powerful Akudama. This injury occurred due to excessive immersion in the thrill of combat, an incident that also claimed his mentor's life. The scar serves as a permanent reminder of this failure, leading him to consistently wear a black bandana mask covering his mouth and nose.
Standing 190 cm tall and weighing 80 kg, he possesses grey-blue eyes and grey hair featuring a long bang covering the right side of his face. His attire is a distinctive white military-style uniform, reminiscent of Imperial Japanese Army and police aesthetics, accessorized with a red belt for carrying his weapon, marking him as an experienced Execution Division member.
Personally, he operates with brutal efficiency during missions, earning the moniker "Conviction." He exhibits high confidence in his abilities, bordering on arrogance, justified by extensive experience and combat prowess. Typically calm and collected, he maintains a stoic demeanor at crime scenes, prioritizing duty above emotional displays. His interactions focus primarily on issuing orders to his disciple, Execution Division Apprentice, or delivering terse remarks during confrontations. While demanding excellence from his apprentice and often instructing her to handle tasks independently, he consistently intervenes to protect her from severe harm, displaying patience with her shortcomings.
His combat capabilities position him among the most formidable fighters. He demonstrates superhuman physical characteristics: strength sufficient to throw opponents through windows and deliver crippling blows capable of damaging exceptionally durable adversaries like Brawler; speed allowing him to dodge simultaneous attacks from multiple Akudama, deflect gunfire, and match exceptionally agile foes; and durability enabling him to withstand high-caliber projectiles, knife wounds, and falls from significant heights while continuing to fight despite severe injuries. As a martial artist, his hand-to-hand combat skills surpass all others, including Brawler and his apprentice. He wields an energy-based lightsaber with exceptional proficiency, utilizing it for precise strikes, deflections, and ranged defense, such as throwing it to intercept attacks aimed at his apprentice.
His operational history involves pursuing Akudama alongside his apprentice after their failure to eliminate them at the Seven-Star Hotel Geisha and Dancing Girls. Following a second failure aboard the Shinkansen, the Execution Division Boss suspends both operatives. Defying orders during his suspension, he leaves his hospital bed and confronts the Akudama alone at the Old Kansai Bridge in Kizu Valley. During this final engagement, he deliberately provokes Brawler into a one-on-one duel, discarding his mask to symbolize a regression to the combat-obsessed mentality that caused his facial injury. The fight escalates until both combatants fall from the bridge; Master uses his lightsaber during the descent to ensure mutual destruction, resulting in his death and Brawler's demise.
His relationship with his apprentice represents a defining aspect of his character arc. While publicly treating her with stern discipline, he prioritizes her survival, defending her instinctively during battles. This protective dynamic manifests as a recognized operational vulnerability, occasionally exploited by adversaries for tactical advantage. The apprentice's presence also subtly counters his tendency towards excessive combat engagement, serving as an emotional anchor until his final solo mission.
