Description
The character Executioner Pupil, also designated Execution Division Apprentice, served in the Kansai Police Execution Division under the mentorship of the Execution Division Master. Their two-year partnership culminated in a mission pursuing Akudama responsible for freeing Cutthroat, intended as the Apprentice's final assignment before independence. This mission instead became a pivotal life-altering event.

Initially marked by intense dedication to eliminating Akudama, the Apprentice displayed eagerness to impress the Master, showing enthusiasm when entrusted with missions. This fervor sometimes led to overestimating capabilities, causing failures that required the Master's intervention in combat. The Apprentice adhered strictly to protocol but demonstrated a willingness to challenge orders if deemed necessary for duty. A significant transformation followed the Master's death during a solo confrontation with the Akudama. After locating him mortally wounded on the Old Kansai Bridge, the Apprentice sustained a traumatic injury when attacked by the Hoodlum, losing the right eye and acquiring a permanent facial scar.

Physically, the Apprentice had short black hair and red eyes, initially wearing a standard white military uniform with a skirt, black tights, red socks, and boots. The injury necessitated a black eyepatch. Upon promotion to Execution Division Junior, the uniform evolved to include red shoulder pads and cuffs, with trousers replacing the skirt, reflecting increased seniority.

Personality shifted markedly post-trauma, becoming more somber and detached. While maintaining professionalism, interactions with superiors like the Boss turned colder, occasionally bordering on confrontational. The Apprentice rejected partnership offers, insisting on working alone—a stance the Boss identified as rooted in self-destructive tendencies. Despite initial resistance to a new partner (Execution Division Junior), the Apprentice developed protective instincts, surrendering during a mission when the Junior's life was threatened by the Doctor. This protectiveness culminated in refusing the Junior's request for a mercy killing after severe injury and ensuring medical aid was summoned.

Combat proficiency included advanced martial arts and hand-to-hand skills comparable to the Brawler Akudama. Reflexes allowed detection of ambushes and projectile threats. The Apprentice wielded an energy sword carried on a red belt, using it defensively to survive an attack by Courier that eliminated other Executioners. Moral convictions faced challenges during later encounters. While expressing pride in executing criminals and personal animosity toward the Hoodlum (responsible for the eye injury), the Apprentice hesitated when ordered to kill Swindler and Hoodlum under duress from the Doctor. This hesitation stemmed from greater disgust toward the Doctor's actions, creating internal conflict about justice.

Key relationships defined the journey: unwavering respect for the Master fueled both pre-trauma motivation and post-trauma ideological shifts, particularly adopting his dying wish to "live on" as a guiding principle. Forced collaboration with the Junior evolved from formal detachment to protective concern. Interactions with the Boss transitioned from excessive politeness to strained authority challenges, though ultimate compliance remained. Intense hatred for the Doctor developed after learning of her role in the Brawler's death, significantly influencing moral judgment during critical confrontations.
