Description
Execution Division Master No. 658 is a veteran operative within the Kansai Police Execution Division, driven by a powerful sense of justice and renowned for his unshakeable calm during operations. His career bears the mark of an early, defining failure: as an apprentice, excessive immersion in combat's thrill led to a battle against a powerful Akudama where he sustained a distinctive scar across his left cheek and, tragically, caused the death of his own mentor.
Physically imposing at 190 cm tall, he has grey hair and penetrating grey-blue eyes. A long bang obscures the right side of his face. His standard attire is a white military-style uniform, complemented by a black bandana mask covering his mouth and nose, partially concealing the scar. An energy sword is carried on his left side.
Personality-wise, he operates with brutal efficiency and minimal mercy, earning the moniker "Conviction." Confidence verging on arrogance, justified by extensive experience and supreme combat skill, defines him. Communication is typically terse, reserved for issuing orders to his apprentice or remarks during Akudama confrontations. He mentors the Execution Division Apprentice with stern rigor, demanding swift, effective performance, often instructing her to "take out the trash quickly" and pushing her into independent combat. Despite this demanding approach, he demonstrates protectiveness, intervening to prevent severe injury and showing tolerance for her mistakes.
His combat abilities are exceptional, standing as the most skilled martial artist depicted, surpassing formidable fighters like the Brawler and his own pupil. Top-tier physical capabilities, reflexes, and tactical acumen allow him to remain analytical under extreme pressure, making him a uniquely difficult opponent for Akudama when fully engaged.
He projects his younger, idealistic self onto his apprentice's zealous pursuit of justice. Their dynamic involves rigorous training and field collaboration, though he consistently shoulders the brunt of high-risk engagements. Following repeated failures to eliminate the Akudama targeting the Shinkansen cargo, the Execution Division Boss suspends both him and his apprentice. Defying orders post-suspension, he leaves the hospital alone to confront the Akudama, determined to preserve the Division's reputation. His final battle occurs on the Old Kansai Bridge in Kizu Valley, where he fights the Brawler one-on-one. As combat intensifies, he removes his mask, baring the scar and symbolically reverting to the reckless mindset of his youth. He sacrifices himself to kill the Brawler, succumbing to his injuries on the bridge, witnessed by his arriving apprentice in his dying moments.
Removing his mask during this last fight mirrors his past failure, reflecting a return to unchecked immersion in combat. His death completes the cycle where the battle-thrill that cost his mentor ultimately defined his own end.
