TV-Series
Description
Yoshiro Hamada repeats a year at Nishiura High due to poor attendance caused by complications from an affair with a woman in a relationship. This places him in the same class as Ren Mihashi, Yuuichirou Tajima, and Kousuke Izumi.
Hamada shares a childhood history with Mihashi, having lived together at Creaker Villa and played baseball. He gave Mihashi his old mitt, which Mihashi treasured. He encourages Mihashi to use the childhood nickname "Hama-chan" in high school. Hamada also attended the same elementary and junior high school as Izumi, resulting in an informal relationship where Izumi does not accord him typical seniority respect.
A former baseball player, Hamada quit after developing "Little League elbow" from excessive youth pitching. Financial constraints prevent his return; his father's job loss forces a family relocation to Kyushu. Hamada works part-time to cover his tuition and personal expenses, making baseball club activities financially unfeasible even with recovery.
Despite not playing, he remains involved by founding and leading Nishiura's official cheering squad, the Ouendan. He recruits friends Riki Kajiyama and Keisuke Umehara to join. He assists the team during club activities by acting as an opposing runner or fungo batter.
Characterized as cheerful and hardworking, Hamada frequently sews banners and equipment for the baseball team during school downtime. His typical attire is the Ouendan uniform acquired from a work friend, complemented by a blue "10" t-shirt, red pants, and assorted headbands.
He maintains a supportive role during games, directly addressing spectators to urge continued encouragement even when the team is losing, emphasizing the game's early stages. He is proficient in sewing and runs 50 meters in under six seconds.
