Triton's mother belonged to the Triton clan, merpeople dwelling in Atlantis five thousand years before the central narrative. She lived peacefully alongside her family and clan within this submerged society. Envious of the Triton clan's prosperity and achievements, the rival Poseidon clan initiated a genocidal assault that annihilated nearly their entire lineage. This attack claimed her life, along with Triton's father and most of their people. Her infant son Triton survived solely due to the intervention of a white dolphin named Ruka, who bore him to protective coastal caves in Japan. Consequently, Triton grew up orphaned, unaware of his heritage until adulthood. The eradication of his family, including his mother, became the core impetus for his vengeful pursuit against the Poseidon clan.
