Description
Ippei Yasuda, son of Yasuda Group chairman Yasuda Seijiro, emerges from significant privilege despite being born outside his father's official marriage. Raised lovingly by his foster mother, he displays exceptional academic prowess by completing high school in two years and qualifying for Tokyo University's Faculty of Law without exam preparation.
Rejecting his predetermined role as heir to Japan's largest business conglomerate, Ippei joins the police force to pursue his personal justice concept. After graduating from the police academy, he becomes a detective at Kyobashi Police Precinct. His colleagues remain unaware of his background, recognizing him only as a highly motivated officer with a strong sense of justice.
He is engaged to Misaki Hitomi, granddaughter of the Misaki Group chairman—a family with extensive political, business, and underworld ties. Their engagement forms a powerful alliance, though Hitomi initially struggles with his career choice before offering support. At the precinct, he develops professional bonds with athletic veteran detective Tamura Masaharu, who mentors him, and Okawa Mayumi, a female detective who first questions his unconventional assignment but later develops personal interest.
Ippei's detective work employs unorthodox methods and unrestrained access to family wealth. When a yakuza group stages exploitative events, he privately funds an investigation to bypass institutional barriers. In another case, he purchases an entire lake and surrounding land to drain it, recovering a concrete-encased murder victim for forensic analysis.
Targeting the serial kidnapper Hundred Faces, he assembles a national team of top criminal profilers. After generating a suspect list, he publicly names the primary suspect via mass media to flush out the culprit, enabling capture during another crime attempt.
His personal life intersects with professional tensions through a romantic rivalry between fiancée Hitomi and colleague Mayumi. He also maintains a competitive dynamic with Buson Yoshiyuki, scion of the rival Buson Consortium. Learning of Ippei's police career, Buson becomes a prosecutor at the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office. They compete professionally—particularly when Ippei uses unprecedented methods—yet Buson provides behind-the-scenes investigative support.
Ippei operates beyond conventional procedural or financial limits, leveraging wealth and family influence to achieve justice. This includes manipulating systems, acquiring property, commissioning specialized teams, and controlling media narratives when traditional police methods prove insufficient.
