Sakuya Kamon pilots the Nova Rhino component of the Dancouga Nova super robot. He deliberately chooses homelessness, expressing contentment without conventional employment or permanent residence, viewing societal expectations as suffocating and desiring personal freedom and solitude.

His personality blends apparent laziness with unexpected competence. While often relaxing and avoiding work, he demonstrates hidden intelligence and resourcefulness, successfully infiltrating the Dragon's Hive organization's computer systems to investigate their recruitment and possessing atypical knowledge for his lifestyle.

Early in the series, Sakuya accidentally adopts the original Dancouga team's battle cry "Yatte yaruze!" ("Let's do it!"). This phrase becomes a unifying element for the entire team before they learn its historical significance.

His role within the combined Dancouga Nova causes personal conflict. The Nova Rhino serves exclusively as the robot's left foot during combination, possessing no independent weapons or special attacks. This limited function makes Sakuya feel inferior compared to other pilots and fuels his desire for a distinctive combat capability. Engineer Sammy later equips the Nova Rhino with a Rocket Punch weapon.

Interpersonally, he develops an association with reporter Isabelle Cronkite. She forms romantic feelings for him after he rescues her during a mission. His past remains largely unexplored, with only a single allusion suggesting he previously experienced overwhelming demands from others, motivating his rejection of conventional life.
