Yū Hokuto, a student at Yamashiro Academy, joins the Psychic Power Research Society as Hiro Nimura's demonstration assistant. Rika Matoba's intervention triggers his transformation: placed under hypnosis, he replaces Hiro as the society's director. This manipulation visibly alters his behavior and voice.

As the hypnotized director, he commands roughly 200 society members pledged to the Esper Domination Force, advancing Rika's plan to control the academy and ultimately the world while serving as her puppet.

Protagonists Mai Ishiki, Yumi Sudō, and Keiko "O-Kei" Okura uncover the leadership deception and confront Yū. Rika intervenes, but after her and Hiro's defeat, Yū breaks free from hypnosis.

He later approaches the protagonists to help rebuild the society, maintaining his characteristically pleasant and enthusiastic demeanor despite their refusal.
