Description
Jean Prouvaire belongs to the revolutionary student group Friends of the ABC in nineteenth-century Paris, engaging in their activities for social justice and political change. He embodies idealism and poetic sensibility, frequently reciting verses and romanticizing revolution. While projecting an image of maturity through habits like smoking and drinking, this contrasts with his inherently gentle and sweet disposition. In the June 1832 uprising, Prouvaire fights at the barricades alongside his comrades. Executed by a firing line during the final defense, his death occurs amid the rebellion's broader suppression, which eliminates nearly every Friend of the ABC.
