Description
Lottie Gelh serves as a Reasoner pilot in the Galactic Union military, commanding an elite combat unit called the Space Squadron with the informal title "Queen." Her strategic aptitude and status grant her authority over common Gambee pilots, which she uses to intervene where she sees injustice. Her closest associate in the squadron is Jessie Ijesse; other members include Dickon Cidnok, Carrisford Radofrics, Ermengarde Johannitz, Martha Shoebbeypower, and Lavinia Reberth. Lottie intensely focuses on fostering teamwork and unity, often describing the squadron as "as close as family, partners in life and death."
The death of her older brother during Ralph Werec's attack on Grabera Academy instilled a profound hatred for Ralph within Lottie, driving her ambition to personally kill him for retribution. This vendetta significantly influences her motivations throughout the conflict.
Lottie encounters Sara Cruz (later revealed as Sara Werec) after Sara transfers to a new academy under a pseudonym. Noticing Sara's exceptional combat abilities, observing she "fights like a Reasoner," Lottie becomes determined to recruit her to strengthen the Space Squadron. She implements various strategies to persuade the initially reluctant and withdrawn Sara to cooperate fully. This process forces Lottie to confront her own leadership style, moving from a dictatorial approach towards realizing the necessity of functioning as a collaborative team member rather than a sole authority figure.
The revelation of Sara Cruz's true identity as Sara Werec, sister of the traitor Ralph Werec, triggers a violent reaction from Lottie, who initially attempts to kill Sara. However, Lottie eventually overcomes this response and transforms into one of Sara's strongest supporters as the conflict progresses. A manga adaptation serialized in Dragon Age Magazine specifically explores Lottie Gelh's background story prior to Sara joining the team.
