Naojirou Abashiri is a police inspector whose profession regularly confronts him with murder cases and corpses. A deeply skeptical man, he initially dismisses supernatural elements encountered during investigations as ridiculous. He typically avoids carrying firearms at work, though escalating dangers eventually force him toward caution. Once formed, his opinions are firm, reflecting a stubborn personality.

A pivotal past event defines him: forced to kill a criminal during his career, he faced retaliation when the criminal's brother took his sister, Kikuko, hostage and murdered her before his eyes. Abashiri continues to hold himself responsible for Kikuko's death, burdened by profound guilt.

His engagement with the supernatural intensifies when he becomes trapped inside a constantly shifting demonic house, dominated by a demon wearing a white kimono. Within this perilous environment, he assumes a leadership role among the group also caught inside. During these events, he witnesses Yuri Benten being threatened by the white-kimono demon. He intervenes to protect her but is killed in the confrontation before the demon's destruction. The group later discovers he was already dead during the struggle, a fact revealed by his inclusion among the skeletons depicted in a painting within the mansion.
