Description
Ganzack serves as the primary antagonist in the original video animation "Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack!" Commanding the Ganzack Pirates, he enslaves a small island's population, forcing the men to construct his massive 150-meter warship, the Devil's Tower, under brutal conditions. This vessel features a giant cannon for mass destruction and a chamber housing his trained Plesiosaur sea beast, deployed for naval assaults.
He carries a bounty of 10,000,000 berries, a significant figure in the East Blue region. His Jolly Roger depicts a skull flanked by crab-like pincers and legs, mirrored in his personal powered combat armor. This armor incorporates retractable bladed pincers, projectile weapons, and foam-spraying mechanisms designed to immobilize opponents. His fighting style relies heavily on these technological advantages, including chain-based restraints and concealed gadgets.
During the OVA, his crew attacks the drifting Straw Hat Pirates, capturing Nami after their Plesiosaur destroys their dinghy. Nami feigns allegiance upon learning his bounty, part of her strategy to undermine him. Ganzack defeats Luffy twice—first using immobilizing foam, later binding him in chains—and quells a rebellion by the enslaved villagers. His ambition to conquer the Grand Line drives him to test the Devil's Tower cannon by firing on the island itself, intending to sink it entirely as punishment for resistance.
He openly declares himself a future Pirate King. His cruelty is evident in threats to execute hostages, including the young Medaka and her father Herring, to maintain control. In the climax, he activates the warship's separation mechanism to bombard the island. He is ultimately defeated when Luffy punches him into the trajectory of his own cannonball, causing a fatal midair explosion.
Beyond this OVA, Ganzack makes a non-speaking cameo in *One Piece Film: Red* (2022) as an attendee of Uta's concert who falls asleep and enters the dreamlike "Uta World." The Ganzack Pirates are formally disbanded following their defeat and the destruction of their flagship.
