Nanpei Miwa is a classmate of Akira Toyoda who attends the same school and participates in bullying him. During a school incident, Miwa and others force open Akira's locker, discovering a poster of a girl that Akira had taken from an alley and brought to school. The group seizes the poster, triggering a physical confrontation where Akira fights to get it back. After reclaiming the poster, Akira returns home bearing injuries from the fight. Later, Miwa witnesses the girl on the poster unexpectedly animate and speak, an event that shocks him. Miwa's actions contribute to Akira's experiences of social isolation and emotional distress within the school.
