Description
Robot Kantam (alternately called Kuntam Robo or Kantam Robo) features solely as a fictional television show in the *Crayon Shin-chan* universe, avidly watched by the young protagonist Shinnosuke. The name deliberately parodies "Gundam", swapping the Katakana "ga" (ガ) and "da" (ダ) for "ka" (カ) and "ta" (タ) to form "Kuntam" or "Kantam" (カンタム). Its visual design echoes early mecha anime such as *Tetsujin 28-go* and *Mazinger Z*.
Structurally, Kantam Robo comprises two units: a primary giant robot and an identical, smaller pilot robot. The main unit transforms between two distinct forms and deploys a signature "Kuntam Punch" attack.
Within *Crayon Shin-chan*, this robot represents an "anime action animation" genre, contrasting with the live-action style of Shinnosuke's other favorite, "Action Mask". Its cultural footprint within the fictional world includes merchandise, notably a figure in Bandai's Super Robot Chogokin line, and a theme song, "Stand up! Kuntam Robot!".
Kantam Robo remains confined to its role as a television program within the main *Crayon Shin-chan* series. It does not appear in narrative backstories, character development arcs, or within the franchise's movies, OVAs, or spin-offs, including *Alien vs. Shinnosuke*, *Toy Wars*, *Lone Wolf and Family*, *O-O-O-No Shinnosuke*, and *The Legend Called Buri Buri 3 Minutes Charge* (which instead features the Nohara family as superheroes battling merged timeline monsters).
