TV-Series
Description
Endeavorman, also known as Doryokuman or Effort Man, serves as Luckyman's sidekick and pupil. His appearance features a blue suit with white limbs, wave-patterned knees, and forearm designs depicting small figures pushing boulders. A chest emblem displays the kanji for "effort" (努力). Distinctive physical traits include iron clogs weighing 60 tons, forged over fifty years from concentrated tofu blocks; daily use of these sandals enhances his speed and strength. His head bears a permanently strained expression with gritted teeth, flowing tears, and fiery orange pupils, while a red teardrop-shaped emergency blood supply rests on his forehead. Ears appear as miniature figures pushing against his head, symbolizing perpetual effort. Manga depictions show skin-toned limbs instead of white.

Personality-wise, he exhibits high energy, hyperactivity, and a short temper, often escalating to destructive outbursts when confronted by superior strength. Despite this volatility, he demonstrates unwavering loyalty to Luckyman, whom he addresses as "Shishou" (master). His core drive revolves around becoming the universe's strongest hero through relentless effort in all endeavors.

Originally an alien from a hero-populated planet, he trained for 200 years to join the Hero Committee. To earn his diploma, he was tasked with battling Luckyman on Earth. After losing due to Luckyman's unpredictable luck, he became Luckyman's disciple to learn from him, eventually forming a permanent partnership and earning his hero certification. Luckyman uses his childhood nickname "Doryoku". His backstory reveals two older brothers, Victoryman (Shouriman) and Friendshipman (Yuujouman). Their mother secured a deathbed promise from Victoryman to prevent Doryokuman from becoming a hero. This vow led Victoryman to frame him for cheating during a childhood match by placing a bottle opener in his hand, resulting in public humiliation and Hero Committee rejection. This betrayal motivated his intensive 200-year training period.

On Earth, he adopts the human identity Doryoku Sugita, attending school in a white karate uniform with a black belt, gray patches on limbs, and the same tofu sandals. His human form allows relaxed expressions, contrasting his static superhero visage. Transformation into Endeavorman requires writing "effort" on paper and affixing it to his chest.

Powers center on superhuman strength and resilience derived from continuous effort. Key techniques include the Doriyuko Punch and Doriyuko Kick, both leveraging exceptional speed and force. His Doriyuko Fire emits ocular projectiles, while the Doryoku Death Blaze (or Doryoku's Magma) channels extreme rage into a devastating attack capable of overwhelming formidable foes like Powerman.

Trivia notes include his fear of natto (fermented soybeans), unexplained in origin, contrasting Victoryman's gyoza phobia. His initial manga school attire featured a blue blazer, later altered in subsequent media.
