Koijirō Arashi commands the Red Cat Circus, a nomadic caravan of curiosities. Beneath a veneer of paternal charm, he ensnares the orphaned Midori, weaponizing her grief to bind her to the troupe. He turns a blind eye as performers subject her to physical and sexual torment, his apathy as calculated as his cruelty. His predatory inclinations fixate on adolescent boys, most notably Kanabun—a youth marketed as a futanari—with whom he engages in acts of oculolinctus. His leadership veers from calculated leniency, such as granting Midori reprieve during illness, to merciless opportunism, culminating in his desertion of the circus, fleeing with its coffers drained. The 2016 live-action revision subverts this betrayal, revealing Masamitsu’s covert substitution of stolen funds with paper camellias. Transactions define his dealings with performers—profits eclipse safety, temporary concessions masquerade as camaraderie. Though he sporadically performs concern for group unity, self-preservation dictates every decision. The story offers no origins beyond his role as architect of exploitation cycles—a catalyst of ruin perpetuating abandonment’s legacy.
