Description
Akuram commands the Oni Clan, orchestrating their bid to conquer a realm mirroring Heian-period Kyoto. Driven by the ambition to harness the Priestess of the Dragon God’s power, he summons Akane Motomiya as a tool for domination while framing his crusade as vengeance for his clan’s historical persecution. His authority draws from a hereditary magical mask, which magnifies his innate abilities until its shattering during a clash with Akane’s allies leaves him weakened, exposing his dependence on the artifact.

He rules with ruthless pragmatism, treating even loyal subordinates as expendable pawns. When Ikutidaru, a devoted lieutenant, defies commands, Akuram enforces discipline by severing one of the oni’s eyes—a brutal reminder of obedience. His dealings with Akane intertwine manipulation and warped ownership; though exploiting her powers for conquest, he fiercely rebuffs others who threaten her, declaring the Priestess his exclusive asset.

The OVA *Ajisai Yumegatari* mirrors his methods as he schemes to claim another Priestess, Azusa, reaffirming his relentless pursuit of supremacy. Ikutidaru’s internal conflict—divided between clan loyalty and human attachments—subtly challenges Akuram’s rigid hierarchy, though the leader’s resolve remains unshaken.

Elevated to leadership young due to prodigious prowess, Akuram’s mask embodies both his birthright and the isolation of command. His icy precision and tactical brilliance occasionally fracture to reveal fleeting frustration at failures, yet these cracks never deepen. He persists as an unyielding foe, prioritizing conquest over introspection, his layered motives anchored in retribution and an unrelenting hunger for control.
