Description
Born in 1910 and passing away in 2006, Cho Kuroyanagi, often called Chocchan, defied both their families' objections to marry Moritsuna Kuroyanagi, a violinist and concertmaster. Together they had three children, including Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, who would become a well-known television personality and author.
The family endured considerable poverty, yet faced adversity with resilience and an unwavering positive spirit, their struggles set in pre-World War II Japan. The outbreak of the war brought a new challenge when Moritsuna was conscripted, leaving Cho alone to provide for and protect their children throughout the conflict.
Her experiences—from her marriage and family life to the hardships of the war—are captured in an autobiographical account that underscores her role within the family and her steadfast response to the tumultuous events of her era.
