Captain Blue began as Director Blue, a celebrated filmmaker known for superhero movies featuring his creation, Captain Blue. Though nominated for awards, his films faded from memory, fueling his ambition to craft a truly great hero. This ambition took a literal turn when he was mysteriously pulled into his own movie, becoming the superhero Captain Blue within the fictional Movieland. As Captain Blue, he fought villains for justice, but gradually forgot his family, allowing "seeds of evil" to grow. This led to his corruption and descent into darkness. To escape Movieland and conquer the real world, he founded the evil organization Jadow. Operating from the shadows under the aliases King Blue or Almighty Leader, he orchestrated the kidnapping of his daughter, Sylvia. He intended to use her "DNA of the Creator" as a sacrifice to breach the barrier between worlds. As part of his scheme, he posed as an ally to Sylvia's boyfriend, Joe, granting him a V-Watch to transform into the superhero Viewtiful Joe – ostensibly to rescue Sylvia, but actually to advance Blue's plan. After Joe defeated Jadow's members and confronted King Blue in his colossal robotic form, a final battle erupted on a space station. Following his defeat in the mech, Captain Blue shed the machine and fought Joe directly as his younger superhero self. Victorious, Joe halted Blue's plans, causing the fallen hero to regain his senses. Afterward, Captain Blue thanked Joe for stopping him and revealed his full backstory, including being Sylvia's father. He explained his initial desire to create heroes trapped him in Movieland, where detachment from reality and a thirst for revenge against those who forgot him fueled his turn to evil. Reuniting emotionally with Sylvia, he acknowledged the story was unfinished, warning Earth would face two more attacks requiring future heroes. He returned to being a movie director and actor, gifting Sylvia a V-Watch so she could join Joe as a hero. In his superhero form, Captain Blue wielded abilities similar to Viewtiful Joe, including VFX powers: slowing time ("Slow"), accelerating movement ("Mach Speed"), and enhancing close-up combat ("Zoom"). As King Blue, he demonstrated additional powers like electrokinesis, flight, fire-breathing, and immense strength. His intellect and creativity were evident in inventions like the V-Watch and his strategic orchestration of Jadow. In non-canonical appearances, such as the anime, characters like Jokester, Bianco Billy, and Captain Blue himself occasionally noted his physical stature as overweight, though Captain Blue Jr. defended it as "husky." His "Confession" theme reused a track from *Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney*. He appeared as a collectible card in *Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3*, granting gameplay advantages like an increased Hyper Combo meter. His younger superhero form was formally named in the spin-off *Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble*.
