Captain Blue began as a human movie director who achieved fame through award nominations before fading into obscurity as audiences forgot his films. Desiring to create enduring heroes, he was pulled into his own movie universe and transformed into the superhero Captain Blue. Initially fighting for justice, he gradually neglected his family, allowing corruption to take root. This culminated in his metamorphosis into the villainous King Blue, leader of the Jadow organization, who sought to escape Movieland and dominate the real world. His pivotal personal revelation occurred during a confrontation with Viewtiful Joe, where he disclosed being Silvia’s father. After defeat, he expressed remorse, thanking Joe for halting his plans and explaining his descent: obsession with heroism after entering Movieland disconnected him from reality, fueling vengeful intentions against those who abandoned him. He warned of future threats requiring a hero twice over and granted Silvia a V-Watch to join Joe. The animated adaptation expanded his backstory to include a close friendship with Jet Black, later the Black Emperor, who scarred his face during a conflict. In the animated series’ Gedow invasion arc, Captain Blue was captured and repurposed into the "Captain Blue Device," a tool Gedow exploited to generate monsters that corrupted movie endings. This arc highlighted his vulnerability and instrumental role in antagonist schemes before his liberation. As a mentor, he provided Joe the V-Watch and trained him, emphasizing heroism as a product of daily effort and resilience. His combat style blended martial prowess, electrical attacks, and mach speed capabilities. As King Blue, he wielded lightning strikes, summoned minions, launched missiles, and manipulated environmental towers. His younger Captain Blue persona utilized a shield and aerial maneuvers, with vulnerabilities during attack recoveries. Physically, Captain Blue possessed a heavier build. The animated adaptation referenced this through characters like Jokester, Bianco Billy, and Blue himself, while Captain Blue Jr. defensively asserted he was "husky" rather than fat. Post-redemption, he adopted a passive guidance role, offering occasional advice and coordinating threat responses instead of direct heroism.
