Description
Botas, an anthropomorphic feline, was left in a basket at an orphanage’s doorstep in the Spanish town of San Ricardo as a kitten. Raised by the orphanage’s head, Imelda, he forged an inseparable bond with Humpty Alexander Dumpty, an egg-shaped accomplice. The pair embarked on mischief, pilfering beans in hopes of finding a magical strain to locate a fabled golden goose. Their friendship shattered after Botas rescued the mother of San Ricardo’s Comandante from a bull, earning him heroic acclaim, signature boots, a hat, and a sword. This act steered Botas toward honorable endeavors, while Humpty descended into crime.

Years later, Humpty coerced Botas into robbing San Ricardo’s bank, marking Botas as an outlaw. Fleeing the town embittered, he encountered mentor El Guante Blanco, who honed his swordsmanship, and allied with adventurers like Jack Sprat. As a mercenary, Botas gained renown for combat skill, tactical brilliance, and disarming foes with a feigned innocent gaze. He adhered to a moral code, avoiding theft from churches or orphanages despite his rogue status.

Reuniting with Humpty and thief Kitty Softpaws, Botas plotted to steal magic beans from criminals Jack and Jill. The mission exposed Humpty’s plot to unleash a vengeful giant goose on San Ricardo. Botas foiled the scheme, sacrificing Humpty to save the town, though he retained his outlaw label. This cemented his bond with Kitty, who became his partner. He later mentored three orphaned kittens—Gonzalo, Sir Timotheo, and Perla—redirecting them from crime after their betrayal, showcasing his evolution from lone adventurer to guardian.

A confrontation with a spectral entity embodying death forced Botas into retirement, traumatized by the realization he’d squandered eight lives through recklessness. This reckoning with mortality and arrogance resurfaced during a quest for a wish-granting star, where hallucinations of death plagued him. Rejecting the wish, he embraced his final life with intentionality, trading bravado for humility.

Botas balances charm and roguish wit with introspection. His journey spans reconciling with Imelda, shielding communities like the hidden city of San Lorenzo, and navigating fractured alliances. Once driven by glory, his trials with betrayal, sacrifice, and redemption anchor his growth toward loyalty and selflessness over personal ambition.
