Captain Dyce is a citizen of Industria and captain of the plastic-salvaging ship *Barracuda*. Tasked by Industria's administration with capturing Dr. Briac Lao's granddaughter Lana, Dyce instead forms an unexpected bond with her during the pursuit. This prompts his disillusionment with Industria's leader Lepka, specifically regarding Lana's treatment, and he enables her escape to Remnant Island. His character displays comedic ineptitude, often surviving clashes with Industria's forces through improbable luck rather than competence. Following Lana's escape, he fully defects from Industria.

Dyce allies with Conan, Jimsy, and others to oppose Lepka's regime, providing nautical expertise and the *Barracuda* to support resistance efforts against Industria's militaristic ambitions. His interactions with former Industrian enforcer Monsley evolve from adversarial to cooperative, culminating in marriage by the series' end, affirming their shared commitment to peace. He also develops an intergenerational friendship with younger protagonists like Jimsy, spending significant time with him after Conan and Lana are separated.

Surviving Industria's collapse, Dyce participates in rebuilding. His role shifts to that of a protective presence for Conan, Lana, and Jimsy, reflecting his transformation from self-serving opportunist to responsible member of the new society.
