Description
Gatchan, also called Gajira Norimaki, is a cherub-like angel who hatched from an egg brought from prehistoric times by Senbei Norimaki and was adopted by the Norimaki family. This original entity later split into two identical beings, collectively known as the Gatchans. They lack a defined gender and display infant-like physical traits: small bodies, green hair, antennae, and functional wings allowing flight. Their speech consists of unique sounds such as "Pipokupipo" or "Koo pee pee poo," understood only by Arale Norimaki, though they occasionally use comprehensible words.

Possessing a voracious appetite for inorganic materials, especially metal, they refuse to consume rubber. This dietary preference stems from their divine purpose: the God of the Galaxy placed their egg on Earth to consume metal resources, hindering human technological progress and keeping humanity primitive. Senbei's time-travel intervention relocated the egg to Penguin Village, thwarting the plan. Discovering Gatchan integrated into the Norimaki family and content in Penguin Village, the deity abandoned humanity's destruction.

Their abilities include flight, energy projection via Antenna Beams from their antennae, metal digestion, and fission. Fission enables replication through cocoon-like transformation, creating multiple entities—eventually reaching eight in one depicted future. They also demonstrate superhuman durability, surviving high-impact falls, and briefly achieve a Super Saiyan-like state in non-canonical appearances. Emotionally, they mirror Arale's playful and naive personality, frequently imitating her actions and remaining her closest companion.

In the film *Dr. Slump & Arale-chan Hoyoyo!! Tasuketa Same ni Tsurerarete...*, the Gatchans join the Norimaki family's underwater excursion following Arale's rescue of a baby shark. Their role aligns with established traits, accompanying Arale and participating in group activities without new abilities or character development specific to this narrative.

Across media, Gatchans appear in *Dragon Ball* and *Dragon Ball Super* as minor supports. During the "Future" Trunks Saga, they consume a building while accompanying Arale to an invention conference. Video game crossovers like *Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3* feature them assisting Arale's attacks with Antenna Beams.
