Description
Prince Aikka, sole heir to Nourasia's throne born to King Lao and Queen Nori, embarked on traditional knightly training at age seven. This rigorous preparation, away from the royal palace, involved mastering martial arts, magic, and soaring on giant flying beetles. He forged an inseparable bond with his beetle mount, G'dar, and viewed his fencing instructor, Canaan, as both a father figure and mentor. Nourasia's forced alliance with the hostile Crog Empire, essential to prevent planetary annihilation, deeply colored his early perceptions, particularly of humans who regarded Nourasians with suspicion fueled by this affiliation.
He entered the Great Race of Ōban to win the Ultimate Prize and liberate Nourasia from Crog control. During the Alwas pre-selection races, he first encountered the human pilot Molly and intervened to protect her and Jordan from the alien racer Grooor in a tavern brawl. This act sparked a friendship with Molly, though tensions flared when Jordan branded him a "Lapdog of the Crogs." Aikka's strict knightly honor clashed with royal duty when King Lao commanded him to eliminate Molly during their direct race. Though both initially agreed to race without weapons, Jordan's unauthorized attack during the contest shattered Aikka's trust in humans. Despite this betrayal, he later shielded an unconscious Molly from Spirit in another race, revealing his persistent concern.
Facing escalating pressure from General Kross in the Ōban finals, and with his family held hostage, Aikka reluctantly sabotaged Molly's ship during a mountain race, fracturing their trust. However, he abandoned the next race entirely to search for her after her crash, showcasing his internal conflict. During the final race, he openly rebelled against Kross, allying with Molly and Jordan and declaring, "We must defeat Kross together!" This defiance prompted Kross to shoot him down; Aikka survived the crash.
Following the crash, Aikka discovered the dying Satis, who revealed the Ultimate Prize's true nature—ascension to Avatar—and the threat of Canaletto. Pursuing Satis's instructions, he transported Molly and Jordan to the Temple of Heart to stop Canaletto, pushing himself to near-fatal dehydration. After recovery, he fought alongside Jordan against Canaletto, sustaining severe injuries and appearing dead until the temple's restoration. In the aftermath, he reconciled with Jordan and shared a farewell embrace with Molly, promising to show her his kingdom. He then departed Ōban with Canaan and G'dar to lead Nourasia's liberation from the Crogs.
Aikka's character was governed by a rigid knightly honor, constantly at odds with his political obligations. Skilled in archery, swordsmanship, and magic, he wielded magically imbued arrows during races. Though he shared a mutual attraction with Molly, their bond remained a close friendship. His journey centered on reconciling loyalty to Nourasia with his moral code, culminating in his choice to aid Earth and prioritize galactic safety over his family's immediate security.
