The character, known as Ringo in some English adaptations but originally named Pero, is a boot-wearing cat based on Charles Perrault’s Puss in Boots. He appears in a narrative set in a lawless town of the American Old West, a place without law enforcement and in need of a sheriff. Upon arriving there, he encounters a boy named Jimmy and a young woman named Annie, the daughter of a slain saloon owner. Throughout the story, he is pursued by three feline assassins, a recurring feature in his adventures. The narrative adopts a more serious and darker tone than other stories featuring the character, in which he assists Jimmy and Annie in facing the challenges of the unruly environment.
