OVA
Description
Yuusuke Takasaki anchors the Green Green anime continuity as its central male protagonist, including the OVA "Green Green Thirteen: Erolutions." Attending the all-male Kanenone Academy, he stands apart from his notoriously perverted friends, the Baka Trio, by maintaining relative normalcy and level-headedness. Though he avoids their extreme antics, the trio persistently drags him into their schemes.

His past carries supernatural weight, implied through reincarnation from a tragic romance. As recounted in each episode’s opening, a separated couple vowed to reunite in another life. When transfer student Midori Chitose arrives, she identifies as the girl’s reincarnation and instantly recognizes Yuusuke as her past lover. Yuusuke, however, retains no memory of their bond.

He reacts to Midori’s relentless romantic advances with confusion and harsh rejection, pushing her away. This changes when Yuusuke finally recalls their past life and reciprocates her feelings. Simultaneously, he develops genuine affection for Futaba Kutsuki, a tomboyish transfer student who initially despises boys but softens toward Yuusuke after his chivalrous rescue when she becomes lost and injured in the woods. A tense love triangle emerges among Yuusuke, Midori, and Futaba.

The narrative shifts dramatically when Midori expends her life force to save Yuusuke from death. Reika Morimura, aware of their past connection, intervenes to save Midori but returns her to the 31st century, erasing all memories of Midori’s existence—except for Yuusuke’s.

In "Green Green Thirteen: Erolutions," set months after the girls’ departure, Yuusuke maintains contact with Futaba. When she revisits Kanenone with their teacher to prepare for school integration, mutual romantic feelings simmer between them, though both hesitate to confess. Midori manifests in a dreamlike form to actively mediate, urging their emotional reconciliation. This culminates in Yuusuke and Futaba uniting as a couple by the OVA’s conclusion.

The visual novel source material presents alternate romantic routes, including one where Yuusuke and Futaba formally couple and bear a child together.
