Description
Asio serves the estate of Weda's family from her past life in the city. His eyes, described as beautiful in youth, are notably intimidating in the present. His relationship with Weda began in her childhood when she was a sick little girl; he developed romantic feelings for her over time, though Weda sees him only as a brother and remains largely unaware of his affection.

He frequently handles practical matters for Weda, such as retrieving her after nights of heavy drinking, a responsibility stemming from her established habits. Accompanied by another servant, Bel, he travels to the jungle village where Weda lives with her son Haré. They claim the visit is a vacation to see their "old master," but their true mission is to persuade Weda to return to the city. This follows her father's death and the discovery that an updated will includes her. During the visit, Asio reveals the circumstances of her departure: her disownment after becoming pregnant as a teenager.

His presence immediately triggers discomfort in Haré, fueled by the boy's protectiveness toward Weda and Asio's intimidating eyes. Asio participates in a competition against Dr. Clive, Mari, and Uigher for "rights" to Weda, reflecting his unresolved romantic attachment. Despite his loyalty and longstanding connection to Weda, she does not return his feelings.
