Description
Colonel Karl Presto emerges as the primary antagonist, commanding a technologically advanced military force marked by Nazi-like aesthetics and tactics. His invasion of a defenseless nation employs battle robots and stormtroopers, unleashing widespread destruction that includes obliterating villages and killing civilians. He orders executions, such as those on a bridge, and specifically commands the drowning of a young boy named Trio.

Presto operates under the authority of a figure identified as his father, who reinforces his commitment to militaristic ruthlessness. Demonstrating a fondness for Wagner's music, which serves as his personal theme, Presto is frequently accompanied by two pet black panthers, symbolizing his predatory nature.

Following the successful invasion, Presto assumes the role of military governor. He orchestrates a deceptive peace festival designed to identify dissidents, resulting in the arrest of resistance figures like Adagio. His leadership blends theatrical brutality with strategic manipulation, including offering media stardom to transformed animal musicians in exchange for their political support.

Presto exhibits unexpected internal conflict upon developing romantic feelings for Coda, one of the animal protagonists in human form. This emotional vulnerability manifests when he spares her life despite her resistance activities and attempts to locate Trio at her request. However, this perceived weakness draws harsh criticism from his father, reinforcing his adherence to merciless tactics.

A significant revelation occurs during the climax: Presto is exposed as an artificial construct. He is a robot replica designed by his creator, the original Presto's father, to embody uncompromising militaristic ideals. This revelation surfaces during a confrontation with Black Jack, identified as the creator's actual biological son who was disowned for refusing the ruthless philosophy programmed into the robotic Presto.

The narrative concludes with Presto's defeat. After a protracted battle involving resistance fighters and the animal protagonists, he is ultimately bested by Black Jack. The robotic Presto falls into a river, leading to his functional demise through rusting, while his creator perishes in an explosion.
